MBC BOY’S and GIRL’S BASKETBALL BYLAWS
 
Athletic Director in Charge:              Prescott (Girl’s) – Somerset (Boys)
 
Annual Meeting Date:                       1st Wednesday after the conference season.
 
Game Times:                                       Varsity             7:00 p.m.
                                                            JV                     5:45 p.m.
                                                            C Squad           5:45 p.m.
.
Times:                                                 Locker rooms must be available at 5:15 p.m.
                                                            JV and C squad games will be 16 minute halves with a 10
                                                            minute half.
                                                            Varsity games will have a 15 minute warm-up following JV
                                                            game but will not start earlier than 7:00 p.m.  Games will be 18
                                                            minute halves with a 10 minute half.  
 
Results:                                               Both teams enter final scores into rSchool.
 
Equipment:                                        Uniforms – The HOME team will wear white on all levels
                                                            Game ball – Game ball shall be the Official WIAA
                                                            Tournament series ball.  The varsity official shall select the
                                                            Preferred game ball from the rack.  Home schools will
                                                            Furnish game balls for warm-ups at all levels.  
                                                            Gym – The bleachers on both sides will be pulled out for    
                                                            Varsity and JV games.   
                                                            Set-up – Gym should be set up by WIAA tournament
regulations. The gym should be split in half at the midcourt line.  All adult fans should be placed on the same side of gym being placed behind their respective player benches.  Student fans should be placed directly across from their adult fans.  No student fans for any team should be placed behind their opponent’s player bench.

Season Schedule:                               A double round robin schedule will be used.

Conference Championship:               Will be determined by conference record during the year.  In the event of a   tie, the championship will be shared.
 
Film:                                                    There will be no conference game films exchanged with
                                                            non-conference schools.  Conference schools may exchange film using               various media, HUDL, etc.
 
Conference Awards:                          Championship team will be given fifty dollars ($50.00)
                                                            towards the purchase of a plaque or trophy (school choice)
 
Each member of the championship team will be given a certificate noting the sport and year of the team championship.  Commissioner will provide appropriate number to each championship team.
 
 
All-Conference Selection:                All-conference team will be selected by a meeting of the
                                                            head basketball coaches at the end of the conference
                                                            season.  
 
                                                            Six (6) 1st Team Members
                                                            Six (6) 2nd Team Members
                                                            Six (6) HM Members.
 
All-Conference Procedure:
  1. Two weeks before the last MBC contest the MBC Commissioner will request nominations from each team using official forms found on MBC website. 
  2. Commissioner will compile a list and send a copy to each coach for consideration prior to the selection meeting.  
  3. At the selection meeting, each coach will be given time to talk about his/her nominations before the official voting.  
  4. One coach from each school will vote but he/she may not vote for a member of his/her school.  Each coach must fill the ballot completely.  They will vote for 18 players.
Voting procedures for all conference will be as follows:  
  1. The number one player in the conference determined by the coaches shall be given the highest number corresponding with the number of all conference players selected.  In basketball it will be 18.
  2. The number two player will be assigned 17.
     points and it will continue on in this pattern.
  1. The total number of points from all of the coaches will be tallied.
  2. The six players with the highest number of points will be 1st team all conference and the next six players with the highest number of points will be 2nd team all conference.
  3. A player earning Honorable Mention should have received at least two votes.
 
All Conference Awards:                    1st Team All Conference – Certificates (6)
                                                            2nd Team All Conference – Certificates (6)
                                                            Honorable Mention – Certificates (6)
                                                            Appropriate number will be provided by commissioner.
Player of the Year
Coaches may nominate a player from first team for Conference Player of the Year.  Coaches get 1 vote and can not vote for own player.
